Description
SD120 is an alcohol and water-based fluid which can be used for the detection of starch in paper and other materials. Papers and materials containing sufficient quantities of starch will darken upon application of the fluid. Papers or materials which do not contain sufficient quantities of starch will show only a clear, very slightly yellow mark.
Currency paper is strictly controlled in its manufacture and supply. It is normally virtually free from starch, while counterfeit currency is normally printed on paper which contains starch. When a mark is made on to genuine currency, the mark will appear clear or very light but on counterfeit currency, the mark will appear very dark.
Most forged currency can be detected, making the product useful to traders, money establishments, and private individuals.
